The following email(s) were sent to the DNEHOA Board on behalf of the Texas Pool. |
Dear Dallas North Estate Board Members, I am writing to ensure that you are all aware of the crisis with our neighborhood pool, the Texas Pool http://www.texaspool.org/. I am forwarding a letter from pool leadership (volunteers). Membership has declined so dramatically that the pool is in danger of not opening at all this season and ultimately may be destroyed as a result. The Texas Pool is a fabulous Plano, Texas landmark and a valuable asset to our community. The loss of the pool could impact property values. This Saturday, The Texas Pool is hosting a membership drive from 9-3. Even if neighbors are not interested in joining the pool, they may still support the pool with donations and in getting the word out regarding what a wonderful summertime swimming experience the Texas Pool provides. Sincerely, Janet Moos 972-422-0177 2000 Westlake Drive Plano, TX 75075 Date: Sat, 12 Apr 2008 02:08:04 -0700 From: texaspool.org@ups-power-services.com Subject: TX Pool 4-12 B To: jdyer@thelegacywb.org
Dear Texas Pool Family,
The Board of Directors recently sent out a "State of the Pool" e-mail advising you of our need for memberships and the possibility that the pool might not open this year. I wanted to personally update you on the status of the pool.
I have heard from several people that are worried about sending in their registration fee and losing their money if the pool doesn't open. This concern is unfounded. Our plan is to hold all registration fees in a separate escrow account which will not be touched unless the pool opens. If we are forced to close the pool, all registration fees will be returned.
In an effort to further allay these concerns and encourage memberships, we are now offering a "Pay Later" option on the registration form (see web site <http://www.texaspool.org/> <http://www.texaspool.org/> www.texaspool.org <http://www.texaspool.org/> ). We need every potential member to send in their commitment to join so we can determine if there is enough interest to support the pool this summer. If you select the "Pay Later" option, feel free to send the registration form to us by mail, fax, or e-mail. You can also hand the form to any current board member. If we make the decision to open the pool, then we will collect membership fees from everyone during early May.
However, if you are willing and able, please consider including your registration fees now. We are also accepting donations for maintenance and startup costs from former members or anyone interested in providing extra support to the pool. We are confident that we can reach our registration goals and open the pool, and we will need the funds in May as we turn on utilities and begin preparing the pool for opening day.
We have also added a single membership option, based on the suggestions of several members. The single membership cost is $175 and it includes the "Pay Later" option.
We previously told you that we needed 150 family memberships, or $45,000, in order to open and safely operate the pool. If we do not meet this financial goal, we may have to close the pool. I have confirmed that the City of Plano is willing to consider "purchasing" the property by paying off our remaining debt. Their plan would be to demolish the pool and make the property part of the linear park. We don't want this to happen, but we need your help! We have received almost $4,500 in membership dues to date. We are 10% of the way to our goal. We still need the equivalent of 135 family memberships in order to open. Please consider sending in your membership commitment as soon as possible, and forward this e-mail to anyone who might be interested in our pool! I am planning to send a weekly update to everyone so you can track our membership progress.
We have scheduled an Open Registration day at the pool on Saturday, April 19th from 9:00 - 3:00 for anyone that would like to register in person or discuss the pool with the Board. Please feel free to drop by!
Matt Dorsett 2008 Board President
